NCCU'S HOPE, MlLLS WIN AT MARYLAND INVITATIONAL

      COLLEGE PARK, MD -- North Carolina Central University junior Brian
Hope won the men's 60-meter dash and sophomore Jessica Mills won the women's triple
jump at the University of Maryland Terrapin Invitational on Saturday.
      Hope, a native of Raleigh, N.C,. finished the 60m race in 6.89
seconds. He also placed third in the 200m dash with a time of 22.22 seconds.
      Mills, a native of Thorofare, NJ., won the triple jump with a leap
of 11.86 meters and also finished ninth in the long jump with a 5.18-meter jump.
   Three other NCCU student-athletes finished in third place or better:
Carrington Queen (fourth, 8.25 seconds in the men's 60m hurdles), Mark Davis (third, 2.03
meters in the men's high jump) and Eric Smalls (second, 15.25 meters in the men's shot put).
