Orangeburg, SC—The SC State Department of Athletics will honor the 2007-08 men’s and women’s tennis teams with a salute and sendoff, Monday, May 5 at 12 noon. The event will be held at Bulldog Plaza at the Student Center on the campus of SC State. Both teams, who won 2008 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament, received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tennis Championship and will face the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in the first round. The women will open their play next Friday, May 9 at 10 a.m. and the men will begin play next Saturday, May 10 also at 10 a.m. Both matches will be played in Chapel Hill, NC. Photo Eric Wilson. |

SC State Tennis Teams to Face Tar Heels
in NCAA Regional

Hamilton ORANGEBURG, SC – The South Carolina State men and women’s tennis teams will travel to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to face the host UNC Tar Heels in the 2008 NCAA Tennis Regional set for May 9-11 at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Both SC State teams, coach by Hardeep Judge, earned automatic berths in the event by capturing the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships Apr. 20. The SC State women (13-3) will face the No. 14-ranked and 15th seed UNC women (17-8) in first-round action May 9 at 10 a.m. No. 17 Arkansas (15-9) will meet No. 46 Wake Forest (8-13) in the other first-round match with the winners meeting in the second round May 10 at 4 p.m. for a berth in the Sweet 16.. |
