Chowan Holds off Livingstone, 70-68

SALISBURY, NC – Clutch free throw shooting by the Chowan Hawks sealed a thrilling 70-68 victory over Livingstone College on Thursday. Over the final 1:41, the Hawks made six of their seven attempts at the line. Chowan improves to 7-9 overall (2-4 CIAA) with the win, and snaps a three-game losing skid. Livingstone falls to 6-11 overall (2-4 CIAA).

Reigning CIAA Player of the Week Talaya Lynch led all scorers with 23 points on 6-10 shooting. The CIAA leader in free throw percentage connected on 8 of 11 at the line. Ransheda Jennings added 20 points, including 18 in the second half.

Lynch opened the game on fire, scoring the first seven points of the contest to give Chowan a 7-0 lead just one minute, 46 seconds in. Chowan then hit just one of their next nine field goal attempts, allowing the Lady Blue Bears back into the game. An 8-0 LC run gave them the lead with 14:59 remaining.
