Rams, Lady Rams Finish Strong at 2012 Dick Taylor Invitational Trevin Goodwin 01/14/12 WSSU youngsters step up on second day of meet CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams indoor track & field teams came out for some great efforts to close out the 2012 Dick Taylor Invitational at the Eddie & Jo Smith Field House in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Returning to action after over a month, the teams shook off the rust and chills for some great performances at the meet. It was the team’s younger players who stepped up at the event as sophomore Kristi Baptiste set the tone with a seventh-place finish in the women’s 400m dash. She finished the event in 59.01. Freshman sprinter Cruz Vargas-Sullivan was a close 10th in the event with a 59.99. The Lady Rams were als strong in the women’s 800m run with sophomore Brittany Killebrew placing ninth with a 2:23.85. The Rams were also strong on the day with freshman sprinter Michael Neal placing fifth in the men’s 200m dash with a 22.70 in the event. Not to be outdone by the youngsters, senior Desmond Wiggan placed seventh in the men’s 800m run with a 1:57.96 in the event. The Rams and Lady Rams will return to action next weekend when the team takes part in the Captain’s invitational at Christopher Newport University. |
