Howard’s Doyle, NCAT’s Bodiford and King Earn Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va., December 26, 2011- Howard forward Saadia Doyle was
named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week, the
conference announced Monday. North Carolina A&T’s Jaylan Bodiford earned
Rookie of the Week honors, while teammate Tracy King earned Defensive
Player of the Week accolades.
Doyle (Forward, 5-11, r-Jr., Atlanta, Ga.) recorded a double-double of
25 points and 11 rebounds in a win against Buffalo last week. Doyle hit
53-percent from the floor (9-of-17) and 88-percent (7-of-8) from the
free-throw line. She added two steals and one assist in the victory.
This is the second straight week that Doyle has earned player of the
week accolades.
Bodiford (Forward/Center, 6-3, Fr., Louisville, Ky.) totaled 22 points,
10 rebounds, one block and two steals in two Lady Aggie games. Bodiford
scored a season-high 12 points in a loss to Charlotte and followed with
a 10 point performance against Wofford.
King (Guard, 5-10, So., Alexandria, Va.) grabbed 15 rebounds and notched
three steals in two games last week. King led her team with three steals
against Charlotte. She followed with a team-high 10 rebounds against
Wofford. Offensively, she added 17 points and three assists.
Other Top Performers:
JaQuayla Berry (NCAT) averaged 21.5 points and six rebounds in two games
for the Lady Aggies last week.
Tasia Bristow (DSU) scored 16 points, three rebounds and three steals
against Towson.
Tierra Hawkins (DSU) tallied 14 points and six rebounds in a loss to
Towson.
Whitney Long (NSU) scored 19 points, two rebounds, two assists and two
steals in a loss to Virginia Commonwealth.
Choicetta McMillian (Hampton) averaged 15.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in
two games for the Lady Pirates last week.
Chelsea Sanders (UMES) scored 22 points and six rebounds in a 63-59
victory against Old Dominion last week.
Melanie Warner (Hampton) averaged 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds to aid
the Lady Pirates to a 1-1 mark last week. |
