Ashle Freeman Named CIAA Rookie of the Week VUU Sports 12/19/2011 Virginia Union University's Ashle Freeman has been named the CIAA Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the CIAA announced on Monday, December 19. Freeman, a 5-6 freshman guard from Richmond, Va., was a perfect 6-6 from the field in VUU's 79-71 upset of Mount Olive College on December 17th. She also had seven steals in Mount Olive's first home loss of the season. Freeman set a school record earlier in the season when she had nine steals against Elon University. Freeman also leads the CIAA with 33 steals on the season. The Lady Panthers travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face Winston-Salem State University at 5:30 p.m. on January 7.
