Chowan Softball Adds Two Early Signees David Hodge 12/16/11 MURFREESBORO – Chowan University Head Softball Coach Amanda Balduf has announced the early signing of two student-athletes who will join the program for the 2012-2013 campaign. Tori Cragan from Central Cabarrus High School (Concord, NC) and Hannah Joyce of Gloucester High School (Gloucester, VA) have each signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Hawks. Cragan is a third baseman/outfielder, who also plays for the Carolina Blast Club team. “Tori has a strong work ethic in all facets of her life,” said Balduf. “She plays a strong third base and outfield due to her quick feet and strong arm. Her game smarts take her to the next level and she is a player that will literally run through fences to make plays.” Joyce is a versatile player who can play second base, shortstop, and outfield. She also plays for the Williamsburg Starz Club Team. “Hannah is a gritty player that does whatever it takes to make a play,” said Balduf. “Her plate approach is full of confidence and she will put the ball in play with power and finesse. Her speed will make her a tough out and her game smarts are far above most players.” Chowan will open the 2012 season on Friday, February 3rd at the Francis Marion University Tournament. |
