Amanda Balduf Recognized at NFCA Convention Meredith Long 12/12/2011LAS VEGAS, NV - Chowan University's Head Softball Coach, Amanda Balduf, was recognized for two honors at the 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) National Convention held in late November in Las Vegas. Balduf, who picked up her 100th win during the 2011 season, was honored as a new member of the NFCA Victory Club, a milestone for coaches who reach the 100 win mark. Balduf also received recognition for garnering the 7th ranked overall team GPA in all of NCAA DII softball. Last season the Hawks softball team boasted a 3.435 overall team GPA. “This recognition (GPA) embodies the spirit of NCAA DII athletics. Our student-athletes make a commitment to academics and balance a winning tradition on the field,” said Head Coach Amanda Balduf. “I am so honored and privileged to work with women who take pride in excelling in the classroom. This program has high standards on and off the field. This is a true picture of the quality of student-athlete we recruit in our program. I am beyond proud this team for believing in the process and taking this program to new heights.” Balduf is in her fifth season at the helm of the softball program. She currenly holds a 117-96 overall coaching reacord at Chowan. She has coached to two CIAA Northern Division regular Season Championships, one CIAA Championship, and one NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament appearance. Her squad has also garnered the CIAA's Top Team GPA for softball the last two year's running. |
