Over 60 youths between the ages of 8 and 14 took part in the
Virginia Union University 4-D Boys Basketball Camp, held between
June 28-July 1 by VUU Head Men's Basketball Coach
Luqman Jaaber in historic Barco-Stevens Hall.
Jaaber, as well as VUU men's assistant coaches Anthony Peeler, Ralph Brown and Jerome Furtado, held daily drills, 5-on-5 pickup games and taught the basics of basketball to the youths. Both NBC-12 and WRIC (Channel 8) profiled the event on their newscasts of July 1. The Panthers are scheduled to tip off the 2011-12 men's basketball season when they travel to California, Pa., to play in the California (Pa.) Tip-Off Classic on November 12 and 13. |
