Benedict's Eberhart Signs with

Columbia, SC--Kennie Eberhart’s playing days are over at Benedict but they will continue on the professional level. Eberhart signed with the Seattle Mountaineers of the American Basketball Association better known as the ABA. Eberhart, who played two years for Head Coach Fred Watson, was the leading scorer during his junior year as he helped lead the Tigers to a second place finish. He was named to the second team All-SIAC. Eberhart had a tough senior year, but he displayed toughness and leadership as he played through it. In addition, he sacrificed some of his offensive time on the court with the addition of his high school teammate Xavier Collier and Player of the Year Marcus Goode. This paid dividends for the Tigers who were the 2010-11 regular season SIAC Champions. Eberhart and the Tigers also returned to the NCAA Division II Tournament after a one year absence.
The Mountaineers is a federal non-profit organization. Their mission is to use basketball to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through prayer, testimony and Christ-like behavior. Their goal is to help build spiritual and moral character based on biblical principles. The Mountaineers will be role models for youth, non-believers and the community. There are 60 teams in the ABA in nine different regions of the United States. The teams also travel outside of the U.S. The Mountaineers recently returned from playing in China. Head Coach and owner of the Mountaineers, Columbia native Don Sims personally visited Benedict to watch Eberhart work out. He immediately liked what he saw and signed Eberhart to the Seattle Mountaineers.
