LADY BULLDOGS DEFEAT WASHINGTON ADVENTIST LADY SHOCK 9-1

(BOWIE, Md. – April 8, 2011) Bowie State University and Washington Adventist University were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but rain forced game two to be called at the end of the second inning. BSU’s Lady Bulldogs defeated The Shock 9-1 in game one.

The Lady Bulldogs cranked out 13 hits with freshman Renelle Traylor (Hayward, CA) leading the way with three. Traylor went three-for-three, scored two runs and added two RBI. Senior Danielle McClay (Silver Spring, MD), sophomore Amanda Ray (Damascus, MD) and freshmen Adria Lewis (Cumberland, MD) and Kiera Washington (Bowie, MD) tallied a pair of hits each in the win.

BSU Freshman Mariela Hernandez (Del Rio, TX) pitched the complete game, striking out three.

Washington Adventist (4-7) recorded four hits but committed three errors. Erin Wright, Meagan Hess, Jordan Harmon and Rebecca Lee were responsible for all the Lady Shock hits.

Bowie State (13-13) is scheduled to host a conference doubleheader versus Virginia State University – Saturday (April 9) at 1 pm.
