FSU’s Tiffany Haywood leads team with 18 points

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jamilia Bonner scored a game-high 20 points while Kendra Johnson added 15 as the University of the District of Columbia defeated Fayetteville State 77-54 in women’s basketball on Monday night. The victory was the Lady Firebirds’ fourth over a CIAA opponent this season.

Tiffany Haywood (Sr., Fayetteville, NC) led the Lady Broncos (1-7) with 18 points and nine rebounds, narrowly missing her fifth double-double of the season. Je’Lena Robertson (Fr., Houston, TX) added nine points. Julissa Anderson chipped in nine points while Jasmine Rich added eight points to go with a game-high 11 assists for UDC (8-6), which collected 16 steals en route to snapping a three-game losing streak.

Fayetteville State opens CIAA play against Bowie State at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday when it returns home to Felton J. Capel Arena for the first time since Nov. 27.
