NEW ORLEANS — Xavier University of Louisiana's Michael Harvey, who scored a game-high 20 points in a 72-58 men's basketball victory at Southern, is the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week for Dec. 20-26.

Harvey, a 6-foot-3 senior guard from Amite, La., and a graduate of Amite High School, scored 10 points in each half against Southern to lead the Gold Rush to its first regular-season victory since 2000 against an NCAA Division I opponent. Harvey was 8-of-12 from the floor and made a career-high-tying four 3-pointers in 25 minutes.

Through 12 games this season, Harvey ranks third on the Gold Rush with a 9.3 scoring average and leads the team with 19 made 3-pointers. Harvey is shooting 51 percent from the floor and a team-best 43 percent from 3-point range.

Xavier, 12-0 for the first time since 1983-84 and ranked ninth in NAIA Division I, will play Webber International (5-4) at 4 p.m. EST Wednesday in the Miami Gardens (Fla.) Classic at St. Thomas University.
