CU's Talaya Lynch scored 22 points in tonight's win

BLUEFIELD. WV - The Chowan University women's basketball team picked up their 3rd season win after picking up a 76-48 win over Bluefield State College this evening. Chowan shot 53% from the floor in the win to help propel them to the victory. Both Talaya Lynch and Ransheda Jennings posted double figures in the win with Lynch getting a game-high 22 points. Along with their offensive efforts, the Hawks defensive efforts also proved to be a deciding factor in the win after forcing 31 Bluefield State turnovers. Chowan improves to 3-5 on the season after tonight's win.

Chowan put up 44 first half points for a 44-22 halftime lead. The rolled to the win behind Lynch's 22 points. Lynch was 8-13 from the floor and hit 3-5 from beyond the three point arch. Jennings scored 14 points and had six steals while Kiara Turner chipped in nine points and grabbed six boards off the bench.

The Hawks will host Johnson C. Smith University in a CIAA cross over game on January 6th. Game time is set for 5:30pm at the Helms Center.
