CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Shannon McCallum and Paige McCallum led three
Charlotte players in double figures with 12 apiece as the 49ers defeated the
University of Maryland Eastern Shore women's basketball team, 74-36, at Halton
Arena Wednesday.

The 49ers improved to 10-2 with their seventh straight win by shooting 51.9
percent for the game, including 56 percent in the second half. UMES (2-6) shot
25.5 percent on the day, dropping its third straight.

from Parker with 8:54 left in the half cut the Niners' lead to 19-6, the closest
UMES got in the rest of the game.

Paige McCallum converted an old-fashioned 3-point play to spark a 13-2 run to
put Charlotte ahead, 32-10, with 1:35 remaining. The Lady Hawks closed the half
with a 5-2 spurt of their own on the strength of Sanders tip-in and free throw to
go into the break with a 34-15 deficit.

Shannon McCallum and Amanda Dowe tallied eight points apiece in the period
as the 49ers shot 48.1 percent. Dowe finished with 10 in the game

Charlotte led, 49-19, at the 15:37 on a Shannon McCallum steal and layup by
Paige McCallum. Amber Cook (Greensboro, N.C.) then hit a pair from the line
and Morton followed with a fastbreak layup to make it 49-23 at 15:06.

Charlotte again held UMES off the board for three minutes to built the lead back
up to 33 at 56-23 prior to a Buckner basket halted the run at 12:35.

From there, The Niners allowed just 13 points to UMES the rest of the day to
cruise to the win.

Eleven of 12 Charlotte players scored as Gabby Tyler (nine points) and Epiphany
Woodson and Jennifer Hailey (seven) added to the 49ers' attack
