Three Hawks score in double figures

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Junior Tyler Hines(Sicklerville, N.J.) recorded his first double-double
of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds Saturday night as the University of Maryland
Eastern Shore men's basketball team lost to the University of Evansville, 90-56, at Roberts
Stadium.

Senior Kevin White (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also scored 11 points while redshirt senior Tim Burns
(Franklinville, N.J.) chipped in 10 of his own.

The Hawks (2-7) scored their first four points of the game off of free throws and made their first
field goal with a basket by junior Dishawn Bradshaw (Baltimore, Md.) at the 13:15 mark to
make the score 15-6 in favor of the Purple Aces (4-4).

With less than eight minutes remaining in the half, Evansville went on an 8-0 run, including six
free throws, before a 3-pointer by redshirt sophomore Mark Robertson (Lakewood, N.J.)
brought the score to 29-14.

UMES scored five straight points before halftime with a layup by Robertson and a three-point
play by Hines to bring the Hawks within 17 at 40-23.

At the 17:07 mark, UMES executed a perfect in-bounds play as senior Freddy Obame Obame
(Libreville, Gabon) dished the ball to an open White in the low box to bring the score to 53-29.

With just over 15 minutes left on the clock, Burns led the Hawks to an 8-0 run with two threes to
force an Evansville timeout at 59-37. A basket by Hines at the 11:03 mark brought the Hawks
within 21 and that's as close as they would get in the second half.

Free throws were the theme of the second half for the Purple Aces as they went 26-for-35 from
the charity stripe while UMES was just 2-for-4.

Evansville's Pieter van Tongeren scored a game-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the
field.

The Hawks play their fifth road game in a row next Saturday at No. 3 Pittsburgh. Tip-off is
scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
