PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball
team enters the 2010-11 season with a good mixture of talent and a great outlook on the
year ahead as head coach Frankie Allen announced the Hawks incoming class
Wednesday afternoon.

"The new guys give us a lot of skill at multiple positions," said Allen. "We have
addressed our recruiting needs for both inside and outside play."

Louis Bell, a 6-foot-4 freshman shooting guard out of Washington, D.C. is an unselfish
player who has the ability to score in bunches. He comes to UMES from Friendship
Collegiate Academy, one of the top charter schools in the D.C. area, with an average of
11.5 points and three rebounds per game.

"Louis is a tremendous defender on the perimeter in addition to having a great shot from
behind the 3-point-line," said Allen.

Fellow freshman Kevin Williams, a 6-foot-1 true point guard, is from Pearland High
School in Houston, Texas and has the ability to run the team on the court and get
everyone involved.

"Kevin brings an added dimension to the point guard position because of his size and
strength," Allen stated. "Although he can score, his ability to pass and protect the ball is
where he will really help the Hawks."

Williams averaged 12 points, five assists and four rebounds in his time at Pearland.

UMES has added further speed with 5-foot-10 freshman Joseph "JoJo" Swift, a native of
Brooklyn, N.Y. The guard from N.I.A. Prep in Newark, N.J. averaged 16 points and
eight assists per game with a career high of 39 points.

"JoJo is one of the fastest and quickest guards I've seen come out of NYC in a long
time," remarked Allen. "He is at his best in the open floor, which will allow us to
improve our transition game.

Mike Spence is the final freshman to join the team. The 6-foot-9 forward/center is a
native of Newark, N.J. and comes from Apex Prep. He averaged 13 points and seven
rebounds per game and will really be looked to defend and rebound for the Hawks.

"Mike is our workhorse," said Allen. "He is athletic, strong and very coachable in
addition to having a motor that never stops. As the season progresses, we expect great
things from Mike."

Two juniors also join the four freshmen for the upcoming year.

Diyaaldin Kelley, a 6-foot-11, 240 pound center from Philadelphia, Pa. has the ability to
make a long jump shot in addition to posting up and being effective on the lower block.
He was a starter averaged six points and five rebounds at Harcum College, which was
ranked as high as no. 1 in the country among junior colleges last season.

"Diyaaldin gives us a legitimate shot blocker as well as more height on our front line,"
Allen commented.

The final piece to the 2010-11 squad is junior shooting guard Dishawn Bradshaw. The
Baltimore, Md. native comes to UMES from New York City's ASA College. Bradshaw
averaged 21 points and five rebounds for his time while earning all-conference honors
and leading his team to the conference championship game.

"Flat out, Dishawn is a scorer," said Allen. "He can shoot and handle the ball well while
also being a great passer. We expect Dishawn to make an immediate impact on our
team."

Coach Allen and his staff look forward to the six newcomers being a cornerstone to a
spectacular season and for seasons to come.

In anticipation for the season, the Hawks will host their annual "Hawk Hysteria" on
Friday, Oct. 15 at the Hytche. The event is free and open to the public. UMES opens
regular season play on Friday, Nov. 12 when they host Conference USA's Tulane Green
