Three Virginia State University’s baseball seniors were received two separate 2010 All-Atlantic Region Honors. Shawn McEnhimer was named to the second-team of the 2010 ABCA Rawlings Atlantic All Region as an outfielder. Two other Trojans received Honorable Mentions by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), Deshawn Showell as a third baseman and Brandon Crump as an outfielder, announced on Wednesday, May 26.
Shawn McEnhimer (Chesterfield, VA) is a graduate student at VSU and led the CIAA in home runs with 13, in RBI’s with 56, finished second in hits and fourth in runs scored. McEnhimer also batted .423 and led his team in six statistical categories including RBI’s, home runs, and total bases.
Third baseman Deshawn Showell (Virginia beach, VA) received an honorable mention from the NCBWA. Showell put together a .310 batting average for VSU while playing great defense at third base. Showell was also named to the second team of the All-CIAA plus stole seven bases, hit ten doubles, and three triples in the 2010 season.
Brandon Crump (Union City, GA) also received an honorable mention from the NCBWA. Crump was named to the first team All-CIAA and led VSU with 25 stolen bases, 13 doubles, tied with McEnhimer with 69 hits, and finished third on his team with a .397 batting average.
