Hawks ranked seventh in the Mid-Atlantic Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. - After falling out of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings last week, the University of Maryland
Eastern Shore men's outdoor track and field team crept back into the NCAA Division I
National Team Rankings Tuesday evening.

The Hawks grabbed the seventh place ranking for the third time this season and was
ranked as high as fifth for the weeks of April 21 and 27.

UMES continues to be led by the 4x100 relay that broke a school record at this past
weekend's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships with a time of 40.01. This
time is ranked first in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

The relay includes junior Thomas Keane-Dawes (Camden, N.C.), senior Allodin
Fothergill (New Hempstead, N.Y.), sophomore Damian Miles (Teaneck, N.J.) and
sophomore Akheem Gauntlett (Roselle, N.J.).

Additionally, Fothergill is ranked first in the region in the 400 meter dash with his time of
46.00 that was also set at the MEAC Championships.

The Hawks improved from the previous week's rankings in 10 of the 17 events.

UMES travels to Princeton, N.J. for the Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes
of America (IC4A) and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships this
Friday through Sunday.
