BROWN, POLLOCK NAMED UMES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK TYLER BIRNBAUM 05/03/10 Field student-athletes take weekly honors PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Freshmen throwers Marcus Brown (Gaithersburg, Md.) and Seneman Pollock (Waldorf, Md.) have been named University of Maryland Eastern Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending May 2. The pair helped the outdoor track and field teams two second- and third-place finishes at the Delaware State Invitational in Dover, Del., on Saturday. Brown won both the shot put and discus, scoring 20 of the Hawks' 76 points on the day. He captured the shot with a mark of 13.88 meters and the discus with a toss of 43.80. Pollock was third in both the javelin (25.73 meters) and 100-meter hurdles (14.54). She was also second in the pole vault (2.43 meters) to earn a team-high 21 points. The track and field teams head to the MEAC Championships in Greensboro, N.C., May 5-8. |
