Lady Hawk pitchers fall victim to walks

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Morgan State University senior Porsche Boddicker held the
University of Maryland Eastern Shore to a combined five hits and one run as the Lady Bears
defeated the Lady Hawks, 9-0 and 11-2, Saturday afternoon.

In the first game of the afternoon, Boddicker gave up just one hit, a double to junior Kyrus
Whitehurst (Virginia Beach, Va.) in the second inning.

UMES was still within reach through three innings, down 1-0. In the top of the fourth, MSU
broke the game open, scoring six runs on three hits and one error. The Lady Bears scored
another two runs on three hits in the top of the fifth to go on and win, 9-0, in five innings.

The Lady Hawks managed to get more hits that MSU in the second game, but it wasn't enough
as juniors Ebony Hahn (Groveport, Ohio) and Inde Whitehurst (Virginia Beach, Va.)
combined to give up 13 walks to MSU batters.

UMES was able to get on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning with hits by
sophomore Britney McLeod (Palmyra, N.J.) and senior Ashley Johnson (Temple Hills, Md.).
McLeod scored the first run of the afternoon on a wild pitch by Boddicker while sophomore
Kristi Miranda (Houston, Texas) reached base on an error and scored on Johnson's single.

Going into the fourth inning, the Lady Hawks were down 5-2 before MSU scored six
unanswered runs to take the win, 11-2.

The two teams finish their weekend series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. first pitch at Lady Hawks
Field.
