PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team recorded just
five hits and one run combined in two non-conference losses to Delaware State Wednesday afternoon

Whitehurst (Virginia Beach, Va.) walked and then senior Ashley Johnson (Temple Hills, Md.)
singled to the shortstop. UMES left both runners stranded to end the inning.

The Lady Hawks scored one run in the bottom of the second inning off of two hits by junior Kyrus
Whitehurst (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Inde Whitehurst and that was all they would get in the
doubleheader.

game of the doubleheader, 9-1, in five innings.

In the second game of the afternoon, DSU got on the scoreboard early and often, scoring four runs in
the first inning, six runs in the second and three in the third.

UMES was only able to manage to get two hits in the second game. In the bottom of the first inning,
junior Chelsea Logan (Trenton, N.J.) doubled to right-center field and Johnson walked before the
end of the inning. The second hit of the game in the bottom of the second, with a bunt single by
