Grambling Announces Verbal Basketball Commitments

Grambling, LA --- Fresh off the heels of returning the Grambling State Men’s basketball team to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time in two years and a first round upset of regular season SWAC champions Jackson State, GSU interim Head Men’s Basketball coach Bobby Washington announces three verbal commitments for the 2010-2011 school year.

Joshua Upchurch a 6-9, 260, center from Vidalia, LA spent the 2009-10 at Baton Rouge Community College where he averaged 12.2 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots per game. Before that Upchurch averaged 10.1 points, nine rebounds and two blocks at Lee College in Baytown, Texas.

Brandon Wilson a 6-5, 205 wingman was named 2009-10 preseason All-American at Jones Community College. The Rayville, LA native was also named All-State, All-Region, All-Tournament and third team Juco All-American.

A native of Monroe, LA Raschard Boatner (6-0, PG, 185) was named all-conference after averaging 20 points, four assists and two steals at Panola Junior College. At Richmond High School, Boatner averaged 27 points, 10 assists, and three steals. He was twice named All-State, All-District and Northeastern All-Academic.

The National signing period begins Thursday April 15th.
