Track, baseball student-athletes take weekly honors

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Senior Allodin Fothergill (New Hempstead, N.Y.) and
junior Elliott Alston (Littleton, Colo.) have been named University of Maryland Eastern
Shore Athletes of the Week for the period ending April 5.

Fothergill, of the men's outdoor track team, won three events at the Penn Invitational in
Philadelphia, Pa., on April 3.

He won the 200 and 400 meters 21.38 and 47.29, respectively, and was part of the first-
place 4-by-400-meter relay team which won that race in 3:10.28.

UMES next competes next Saturday at the Hampton Invitational in Hampton, Va., and
the Sun Angel Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.

Alston, an infielder on the baseball team, hit .462 in four games last week, leading the
Hawks to a win over Delaware on Saturday. Alston hit safely in all four games and has a
current six-game hitting streak.

He was 6-for-13 with two doubles, a home run and seven RBIs.

The Hawks (2-23, 1-5 MEAC) host Canisius Monday, April 5 at 3 p.m.
