Spiders Sweep Rams 7-0; WSSU Men’s Tennis Falls To Richmond Chris Zona 04/03/10 Rams earn 8-5 victory at first doubles before falling to Richmond WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Despite an impressive 8-5 victory at first doubles, the Winston-Salem State University men’s tennis team fell in defeat to the Spiders of Richmond 7-0 at the WSSU Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon in collegiate men’s tennis action. The pairing of Brian Coxton and Ian Hunter opened the match with a dominating 8-5 victory over the number one doubles pairing of Sebastian Fauchet and Jesse Feder as Coxton/Hunter secured what would prove to be the Rams’ only victory of the match. Richmond would earn straight-set victories in the remaining eight matches en route to a 7-0 sweep of the Rams as WSSU, playing in their second match of the day, were unable to battle the Spiders. The loss drops WSSU to 2-17 on the year while Richmond improves to 8-9 on the season with the victory.
