WSSU notches two hits in tough loss

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (3-13) struggled at the plate in a 3-0 loss to the Florida A&M Lady Rattlers (16-15), Friday afternoon. As a team, the Lady Rams struggled against the tough FAMU defense as the Lady Rams reached base six times in the game with only two WSSU hits in the loss.

WSSU junior infielder Bonika Terry and freshman infielder Britney Cato recorded just one hit each and were the only Lady Rams to record hits in the game. Terry went 1-for-3 from the plate while Cato was 1-of-2 from the plate.

The Lady Rams’ defense got off to a slow start, allowing a pair of first inning runs to the Lady Rattlers. An RBI triple and a WSSU throwing error allowed the two scores to the Lady Rattlers. A sixth inning FAMU RBI single capped the scoring for both teams and sealed the 3-0 WSSU loss.

Freshman pitcher Brittany Lane (2-7) took the pitching loss, throwing all seven inning, allowing seven FAMU hits with three strikeouts and only four walks.

The two teams would cap the doubleheader immediately following this game.
