Coach Sunday Enitan Named Men’s And Women’s Coach of the Week 

(Raleigh, NC) – Shaw’s Lolia Kienka and her brother Kalada were today named CIAA Women’s and Men’s Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. This is the second time this season they have received this honor. Shaw Head Coach Sunday Enitan received recognition as both the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach of the Week.

Lolia Kienka, a sophomore from Lagos, Nigeria, won all three of her matches at the number one singles slot, downing players from North Greenville (SC) and a doubleheader sweep against Saint Augustine’s. In those three matches, she dropped only four games. The wins put her season record at 17-1, 11-0 in the CIAA. Her only loss on the season was to Division I Hampton.With doubles partner Evan Okafor, she was also undefeated this past week, which gives them a 16-2 record on the season. Kalada Kienka, a junior from Lagos, Nigeria, also went 3-0 on the week, handily defeating opponents from North Greenville (SC) and Saint Augustine’s. In three matches, he lost only two games. He is 18-1 on the season, with his only loss coming against Division I Hampton. With partner Milos Stankovic, he was undefeated this week, bringing their record to 16-2 in doubles on the season. 

Sunday Enitan, in his tenth season as head of the Shaw tennis program, led the Lady Bears to a 3-1 record on the week – dropping a match 5-4 against a tough North Greenville squad, then rebounding with a doubleheader sweep of Saint Augustine’s 9-0 and 9-0. On the season, the women are 14-4 overall and 11-0 in the conference.

The men were 3-0 on the week, winning a close match against North Greenville, then sweeping a doubleheader with Saint Augustine’s 9-0 and 9-0. The Bears are 13-6 overall and 7-0 in the CIAA. The Bears will play host to West Liberty Thursday at 1:00 p.m. The women return to action on Saturday when both they and the men will host Johnson C. Smith in a critical CIAA match at 2:00 p.m. Shaw plays its home matches at Biltmore Hills Park at 2615 Fitzgerald Drive in Raleigh.
