Lady Rams Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision At North Carolina Central Chris Zona 03/28/10 Kalin Jarvis and Chelsea Chatman earn WSSU’s two points in the loss DURHAM, N.C. – Wins by Kalin Jarvis and Chelsea Chatman were not enough on Sunday afternoon as the Winston-Salem State University women’s tennis team fell in defeat to the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central 5-2 from the NCCU Tennis Center in Durham, N.C. Kalin Jarvis earned the Lady Rams’ first point of the match as she rallied from a 2-6 loss in the first set of her fifth singles match by posting 6-1 and 6-4 victories in the final two sets as she earned a win over Monica Medina. Jarvis was joined in the winners circle by teammate Chelsea Chatman who posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Ashley McRae for Winston-Salem State’s second and final point of the match. The Lady Rams dropped the doubles point as they were swept 3-0 in doubles play and surrendered points in the top four singles matches as North Carolina Central earned the 5-2 victory. North Carolina Central improves to 8-9 overall on the season with the victory while the Lady Rams drop to 4-12 with the loss. The Lady Rams return to action on March 30 at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Asheville, N.C. to face the Bulldogs of UNC-Asheville. |
