Enitan Named Both Men’s And Women’s Coach of the Week

(RALEIGH, NC) – The CIAA today named Shaw’s Fernanda Silva and Milos Stankovic its Tennis Players of the Week. Shaw Head Coach Sunday Enitan received recognition as both the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach of the Week.

Fernanda Silva, a senior from Sao Paulo, Brazil won all seven of her singles matches last week, including one against Division I Hampton and six matches at the CIAA Tennis Roundup. She and partner Livia Oliveria won their six doubles matches at the Roundup (no doubles matches were played against Hampton). 

On the season, she is 14-1 overall, 9-0 in the conference and is on an 11-match winning streak. She is 13-1 on the season in doubles.

Milos Stankovic, a senior from Montenegro, Serbia, won all six of his singles matches – including one win against Division I Hampton and five at the CIAA Tennis Roundup. With doubles partner Kalada Kienka (last week’s Player of the Week), Stankovic won all six of his doubles matches. 

On the season, he is 14-2 overall, and 7-0 in the conference, and is on a seven-match winning streak. He and Kienka are 14-2 on the season.

Sunday Enitan, in his tenth season as head of the Shaw tennis program, led the Lady Bears to a 6-1 record on the week, dropping the match against Hampton and winning all six matches in the CIAA Tennis Roundup. On the season, the women are 12-3 overall and 9-0 in the conference.

The men were 5-1 on the week, dropping the match against Hampton and winning their five matches at the Roundup. The Bears are 9-6 overall and 4-0 in the CIAA. 

Friday, the Bears and Lady Bears host cross-town rival Saint Augustine’s in a doubleheader at Biltmore Hills Park at 1215 Fitzgerald Drive in Raleigh. First match begins at 11 a.m.

A bus service from the Duke campus to NCCU will begin at 2:15 p.m. with designated pick-ups at the East Campus and West Campus bus stops.
