Lady Rams Nearly Pull Out A Win Versus Morgan State; Fall 4-3 Chris Zona 03/24/10 Morgan State escapes WSSU Tennis Complex With One-Point Victory WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Winston-Salem State University women’s tennis team nearly earned their fifth win of the season on Wednesday afternoon at the WSSU Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C. as they fell to visiting Morgan State 4-3.  The Lady Rams opened the match by earning the doubles point as Sloane Holmes and Bianka Locklear downed Alexis McCoy and Nekesa Thomas 8-3 at first doubles. WSSU benefitted from a free point via default at third doubles en route to opening up an early 1-0 match lead. Kalin Jarvis earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Frances Ferdinand at fifth singles and Chelsea Chatman won via default at sixth singles to give WSSU three points in the match as the Lady Rams fell just short of victory. Morgan State earned wins in all four of the top singles flight and escaped from the WSSU Tennis Complex with a win. The loss drops WSSU to 4-11 on the season while Morgan State improves to 3-7 on the season with the victory. The Lady Rams return to action on Sunday, March 28 from Durham, N.C. as they travel to face the Lady Eagles of North Carolina Central University.
