BOWIE STATE CAPTURES FOURTH CIAA EASTERN DIVISION BOWLING CROWN Gregory Goings 03/10/10 (HAMPTON, Va. – March 10, 2010) Bowie State University captured their
fourth CIAA Eastern Division title by way of a tie-breaker with
Elizabeth City State University and will enter the conference
championships as the #1 seed for the East. The Lady Bulldogs finished
the regular season with an identical 43-11 CIAA record with ECSU and a
52-11 record overall. BSU pulled ahead of ECSU in a tie-breaker matching
total pins versus conference teams.BSU’s Lady Bulldogs officially wrapped up the East title last weekend at the final CIAA Eastern Division event hosted by Bowie State. Junior Rebecca Frusciante led team with a high average of 189.90 and a high game of 248. Junior Dominique Carroll was second on the team, averaging 187.50 to go along with a high game of 215. Junior Tycora Brown averaged 182.50 with a high game of 278. Junior Verra Diggs averaged 179.13 over the three-day weekend event and rolled a high game of 234. Diggs showed heart, bowling with a pulled thigh muscle. The CIAA Women's Bowling Championship will be held in Durham, North Carolina at the Durham AMF Lanes- March 20-22, 2010. All-Conference honors have also been given; based on the Top 10 player averages in the conference. Fayetteville State and Bowie State load the team with four and three players, respectively.
