VSU WINS SAVANNAH STATE INVITATIONAL

Virginia State University's golf team won the Savannah State University Tiger Fall Invitational, finishing six strokes ahead of Bethune-Cookman University, held on November 9 and 10 in Savannah, Ga.

VSU finished the 36-hole course with a 2-day score of 622, six strokes ahead of Bethune-Cookman's score of 628. Morehouse College was third with a score of 639 while Alabama State University was fourth with a score of 640. Winston-Salem State was fifth while Florida A&M was sixth.

Hampton was seventh and Savannah State was eighth. Fayetteville State was ninth and North Carolina Central was 10th. Alabama A&M was 11th and Saint Augustine's College was 12th. Willie Mack of Bethune-Cookman was the top individual finisher with a 2-day score of 143.

VSU's Greg Hunt finished one stroke off the pace with a score of 144. VSU's Dustin Kelley tied for fourth place with a score of 152 while Brian Wood tied for 13th with a score of 156. The Trojans' Wes Sides finished tied for 36th at 170 and Justin Parker was 60th with a score of 218.
