NCCU’S SHAW PLACES 23RD AT SAVANNAH STATE TIGER FALL GOLF

Ga. – Junior transfer Ormond Shaw placed 23rd to lead North Carolina
Central University, as the Eagles finished 10th in the team standings
during the two-day (Nov. 9-10) Savannah State University Tiger Fall Golf
Invitational in Savannah, Ga. Shaw shot an opening round 81 (+10) on Monday, and then posted an 82 (+11) during Tuesday’s final round to finish with a 163 (+21). NCCU held the seventh position in the team standings after tallying a 330 on day one, but dropped to 10th place after combining for a 342 in the final round. Senior team captain Juan Sanchez opened with a team-best round of 79 (+8) and finished with an 85 (+14) to tie for 24th place. Fellow team captain Braden Cox recorded a score of 165 (82+83) to tie for 26th place, while newcomer Patrick Olobo carded a 180 (88+92) to tie for 49th place. NCCU freshman Kempton Mandeville shot a 190 (96+94), while sophomore Ronald Royster tallied a 198 (104+94). The fall portion of NCCU’s schedule is now complete, with the Eagles next competition coming on March 7-8 at the Florida A&M Invitational. |
