Shaw’s Callahan Bright Named to CIAA All-Rookie Team Sherri Fillingham 11/05/09 (Raleigh, NC) – Shaw University defensive lineman Callahan Bright was today named to the CIAA All-Rookie team. Bright, from Bryn Mawr, PA, had 48 tackles in nine games, including seven and a half tackles for a loss. He also had a key fumble recovery in Shaw University’s upset of Division I FCS foe Bethune-Cookman. Bright is one of many Shaw Bears to be recognized by the CIAA with post-season honors. Earlier today, nine Bears were named to the All-CIAA First and Second teams, while Quintez Smith was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Year. Shaw finished the season 8-2, 5-2 in the CIAA, finishing second in the Western Division behind Fayetteville State.
