PRINCESS ANNE, Md. - Four players recorded at least six kills and two had double digits as
the University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team swept Morgan State, 3-0, (25-13,
25-20, 25-13) at the William P. Hytche Athletic Center Sunday.

Senior Caylin Woodward (Garden Grove, Calif.) led the way for the Hawks with 11 kills
and sophomore Christine Edwards (Lakewood, Calif.) had 10 as UMES (17-6, 6-0 MEAC)
earned its eighth consecutive victory. Morgan State fell to 7-19 and 2-4 in conference
with the loss.

Woodward added seven assists, five digs and two block assists. Senior Whitney Johnson
(Prince Frederick, Md.) and redshirt junior Samantha Chukwura (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each
tallied six kills.

Freshman Bella Jade Romero (Arlington, Texas) directed the UMES offense with 31 of the
team's 40 assists. She also threw in six digs, two aces and two kills sophomore Rebecca
Prado (Annandale, N.J.) led the team with 10 digs.

UMES held MSU to a .000 hitting percentage and hit .309 itself.

The Hawks jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first game prior to Morgan State's first
timeout. UMES allowed just two Bears' kills in that stretch. Edwards gave UMES its largest
lead of the game on a kill that put the Hawks up, 22-8. Edwards finished the game off
with a kill off an assist from Romero.

Game two was tighter as neither team had more than a five-point advantage. UMES
dropped the first two points on the game on kills by Erin Cox and Dominique Bozier but
erased the deficit and didn't trail the rest of the game.

Up, 20-17, coming out of an MSU timeout, UMES ran off five of eight points to take a 2-0
edge into the third game. The run was spearheaded by two kills each by Woodward and
Edwards.

UMES lead 16-6 in the third game after the second Morgan State timeout of the game.
Bozier and Cox notched a pair of attack errors before the break. UMES limited the Bears
seven points the rest of the day.

The Bears were lead by Ivanti Bush (nine kills), Christa Rogers (20 assists) and Dina
Beamon (14 digs).

The Hawks return to action Friday (Oct. 30), hosting Delaware State at 7 p.m.
