PULLEY, VANN EARN PRESEASON ALL-STAR NOTICES TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 1) - Florida A&M University rising senior football student-athletes Curtis Pulley and LeRoy Vann have received preseason all-star recognition in advance of the coming 2009 campaign. @ Pulley, a 6-4, 200-pound senior quarterback from Hopkinsville, Kentucky, was named to The Sports Network's "Walter Payton Award Watch List," as of of the 20 leading offensive players in NCAA Division I FCS (Football Championship Subdivision, formerly I-AA). He played the final 10 games of the season a year ago, leading the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in total offense (2,267 yards), accounting for 24 touchdowns (17 passing, seven rushing). He led FAMU in rushing (885 yards, 7 TDs), while completing 98 of 178 passes for 1,382 yards, capturing first team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference honors. "The Talented Mr. Pulley," helped shift the Rattler Offense into virtual high gear by midyear, as FAMU finished the year averaging 35.2 points per game, scorinf 40 or more points in their final three games and five of their last seven contests, cracking the 50-point plateau three times. The transfer from the University of Kentucky was named MVP of the Bank of America Atlanta Football Classic and the Florida Classic, presented by State Farm, after leading the Rattlers to decisive victories against Tennessee State (28-21) and Bethune-Cookman (58-35). @Vann, a 2008 FCS All-America return specialist, who is a 5-9, 185-pound defensive back from Tampa (Blake High School) has been named to The Sporting News College Football Preview FCS Preseason All-America team. The scintillating performer shattered school, conference and NCAA records for Division One football in kick returns in 2008, piling up 1,583 combined yards (462 on punts, 1,121 on kickoffs), which ranks him #1 all-time in that category among BCS or FCS players for a single season. He also ran back six (6) kicks for touchdowns, tying and NCAA record for combined kick returns for scores. Many of his returns came at clutch moments in games, sparking the Rattlers to a sizzling 9-3 finish.
