Organizers Begin Preparations to Host Black College Football Classic

BOWIE, MD – It’s that time of year again and the Prince George’s Black Chamber of Commerce along with organizers are preparing to host the sixth annual Prince George’s Classic. Featuring the Bowie State University (BSU) Bulldogs and the Shaw University Bears, the Classic is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2009 at Bowie State’s Bulldog Stadium.

The Prince George’s Classic has proven to be much more than a football game.  Classic participants return year after year to be a part of the excitement and atmosphere that surrounds black college football.  Organizers are also looking to host a variety of festive ancillary events again this year.

“Even with the state of the economy, it never crossed my mind to postpone or cancel the Prince George’s Classic,” said Mike Little, president and founder of the Prince George’s Classic. “We think it is very important to keep this tradition alive in Prince George’s County,” he added. “We look forward to hosting another fun-filled, entertaining and successful event.”

Detailed information about the Prince George’s Classic, including the official event schedule, will be released during a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex, Town Hall Room.
