Devilettes to take on UCLA in NCAA Soccer Tournament
Itta Bena, MS---The Mississippi Valley State
University Devilettes, winners of the 2005
Southwestern Athletic Conference soccer tournament, will travel to Los Angeles, CA to take on the Lady
Bruins of UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Women’s College Cup, the NCAA’s Division I women’s soccer
tournament. GO

Led by sophomore forward Brooke Falke,
the Devilettes put the Lady Statesmen away early as they breezed through to an
easy 5-0 victory.

Falke
opened the scoring for the Devilettes as a corner kick from Midfielder Sonia
Curvelo found her in perfect position 3:51 seconds into the game.

The
Devilettes only score came late in the game with a
goal from freshman forward Pella Hand (70:00).

“We are the best team in this conference and we are
going to play our hardest,” said HEAD COACH DEAN JOSEPH. “These
ladies have endured a lot this season and they truly deserve to be there”

The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes, one day removed from capturing the school’s first title in women’s soccer, had another first as the team received the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s College Cup, the NCAA’s Division I women’s soccer tournament.GO

The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes claim the 2005 SWAC Women’s
Soccer Title with a 2-1 victory over the Jackson State Lady Tigers. The

Keisha McDaniel, a 5-9, freshman goalkeeper from Las Vegas, Nevada, was
tabbed as the
conference Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. She finished the
season first in the conference in saves (173) and the leader in Division I in
