SWAC 2005 Soccer All-Conference Team William Bright Jr. SWAC Media Relations 11/3/05 The Southwestern Athletic Conference recently announced the 2005 SWAC Womens All-Conference Team and Honors. Keisha McDaniel, a 5-9, freshman goalkeeper from Las Vegas, Nevada, was tabbed as the conference Most Valuable Player and Freshman of the Year. She finished the season first in the conference in saves (173) and the leader in Division I in saves average (13.31 stops per game). The 2005 Offensive Player of the Year is Belinda Kanda of Alabama A&M. The 5-7, sophomore forward from Accra, Ghana, was the conference leader in shots (85), goals (24), assists (12) and points (60). She netted four goals and handout three assists twice during the season versus Prairie View A&M and at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The 2005 Defensive Player of the Year is Ikhlas Wazeerud-Din, a 5-2 junior from Stone Mountain, Georgia. She has tallied six points on the season (two goals, two assists) and is the leader of a defensive unit that allowed 17 goals in 18 matches this season. Alabama A&M had six players receive all-conference honors two on the first team. Jackson State placed five players on the all conference team with three first-team members.
