JAGUARS WELCOME ALCORN FOR SEASON FINALE Baton Rouge, LA -- The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team will welcome the Alcorn State University Lady Braves for their season finale on Friday, October 28th. “Based on the training sessions we have had this week I feel as though we are ready for tomorrow,” said interim head coach John Knighten. “We have been successful in the last three games that we have played. As long as we play the same way we have played we will be successful.” Southern (3-8, 3-5 SWAC) is the hottest team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference as they have won three straight games versus the Western Division opponents. Even though all games versus SWAC teams count, the wins have helped claimed SU their second straight post-season berth. “They young ladies have realized that no one person is smarter than the team,” Knighten said. “We have made some changes in the line-up and at first it was questioned but the team saw how it worked in the game and embraced it.” It will be senior day for the Blue and Gold as they play their last home game. A small ceremony will take place before the game. This is the fourth time the Lady Jaguars are suppose to face Alcorn. The first game of the year, versus Alcorn, was cancelled due to hurricane Katrina. The second and third dates were also cancelled due to conditions set by hurricane Rita. With no hurricanes threatening the gulf coast this game looks like it will take place. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Clark Park in Baker, LA. -SU- |
