NCCU VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WIN STREAKS IN THRILLER OVER UNC PEMBROKE

DURHAM, NC -- North Carolina Central University rallied from a 2-games-to-1
deficit to defeat UNC Pembroke 3-2 (30-23, 21-30, 26-30, 30-24, 15-12),
extending the Lady Eagles' winning streak to 12 matches and its home winning
streak to 19 matches. 
NCCU senior outside hitter Brenda Brown (Fayetteville, NC) amassed a
match-high 20 kills to go along with a team-best 14 digs. Junior outside hitter
Tordra Sessions (Long Beach, Calif.) collected 17 kills and 10 digs, senior
middle hitter Danielle Johnson-Webb (Chapel Hill, NC) recorded 16 kills and four
solo blocks, junior utility Latoya Tate (Toronto, Canada) served seven aces, and
senior setter Ariel Germain (Detroit, Mich.) distributed 57 assists for the Lady
Eagles (18-7). 
UNC Pembroke (6-14) was topped by junior outside hitter April Newhouse
(Henderson, NC) with 19 kills and sophomore middle hitter Sarah Harrison
(Sinton, Texas) with 13 kills. Junior defensive specialist Alex Cogdill tallied
a match-high 25 digs in the loss. 
Up next for NCCU, the Lady Eagles head west on I-40 for a doubleheader with
Livingstone and Johnson C. Smith on Oct. 13.
