and awareness booth, "Fight like a Girl" - Duke
University Medical Center manned a booth on breast cancer
stressing awareness of a program for uninsured and under
insured women and the importance of self examination for women
below 40 years old and those with large tissue mass. The United
States Postal Service released the
Anna Julia Cooper stamp part of the Black Heritage
collection in time for the celebration. |

On TV: On my watch when
the CIAA Television Network broadcast a football game there is
some level of student involvement from a member institution in
the production of the broadcast. |
| A Chance to Lead:
Miss Fayetteville State, Kings,
other Queens, and Student Government officials were on board
supporting the Broncos and representing the University at the
Football Championship game. |

Kicking it: The event was
the 2009 CIAA Football Championship Game where in the house were
the BSU Bulldog faithful to encourage and support their choice
for champion. |

Lady Aggies Let the Dog Out
Trailing 43 to 53 at the 14:44
mark in the 2nd half the North Caroline A&T Lady Aggies ran off
five un- answered points, Lamona Smalley hit a jumper, Amber
Calvin got one of two free throws to drop then stole the
inbound passed to pass off to JaQualyla Berry for a lay-up
slicing the deficit to five points. Auburn "Lady Tigers” called
time which was threw a bone to the Lady Aggies fans waiting to
set it off. |

State men’s basketball team participates in local food drive

The Albany State University’s men’s basketball team is committed
to community service. The team recently participated in an
annual food drive, hosted by the Center of Refuge Church in
Albany, Ga. The food drive was held at Tift Park in Albany on
Oct. 10. |

to Host "Olympic Day" Celebration on June 23, 2009 - Duane

2009, the City of Birmingham Mayor's Office-Division of Youth
Services (DYS) and the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC)
will partner to host an Olympic Day celebration from
2:00pm-3:00pm at the Western Area YMCA on
Bessemer Road in Birmingham.
