The 2005 MEAC Football Press Luncheon concluded with the unveiling of MEACKIE, the leagues' first-ever mascot. The mascot is colored in MEAC purple with a MEAC gold jersey. The jersey features the logos of each of the 11 MEAC institutions. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the new mascot is his head, which is shaped into the MEAC logo. MEACKIE can reach a height of 5-feet, 7-inches tall.   See

adopted a conference mascot named Meackic. 
Wavy Dave has left the Building
Dave Withers known as Wavy Dave was buried was 12/28/06.   He  received an Undergraduate and Master degree from Jackson State.  Withers was a fixture as a mascot for the Tigers in the late 1990's into 2000's working the sidelines during the game and performing at  halftime with the band and his crew. Dave's most  notable statements on the sideline referring to his crew was " they don't want to just graduate High School they want to go to College." JSU Band director Dr. Lewis Liddell Sr. in a 90's interview spoke of Dave saying if he doesn't perform we received calls and if does perform we receive calls- but positive.
