Lady Panthers Volleyball clashed with Brewton Parker on Friday, October 23 at Epps Gymnasium. The backcourt, played tough, but it wasn’t enough to put away Brewton-Parker College, as CAU fell 0-3 (14-25, 21-25, 18-25) in Epps Gymnasium.

Saturday’s Backyard Brawl, like every battle between the CAU Panthers (2-5, 3-5 SIAC) and Morehouse Maroon Tigers (6-2, 4-2 SIAC), was intense. Both teams went back and forth trading fumbles, interceptions and touchdowns throughout the entire game.

It is with extreme excitement I announce that our Lady Panthers Cross Country team claimed the 2009 SIAC Championship on Saturday, October 24! The meet, which took place at Clayton County International Park, was highlighted by junior, first-year runner, Loneia Powell, who finished the women’s 3k race in 20:33.23.
WSSU Golfers Close Out Bethune-Cookman Fall Invite With Eighth Place Finish  - Chris Zona 10/26/09
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Jerrell Fields’ three-day total of 239 led the Winston-Salem State University men’s golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Bethune-Cookman University fall golf invitational as Fields’ 27th-place individual finish paced the Rams who closed out play with a three-day total of 1,001.
Shaw Men and Women Finish Fourth at CIAA Cross Country Championships

The Shaw men’s and women’s cross country teams each finished fourth at the CIAA Cross Country Championships held at WakeMed Soccer Park. Raychelle Johnson (Jr., Albuquerque, NM) was the first Lady Bear across the finish line, completing the five kilometer run in a time of 21.54.8 for seventh place.

Join me in congratulating Panther football stars William Hollis and Winston Thompson. Hollis was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week for the third time this year and joins Thompson in the running for the Harlon Hill Trophy. This award is Division II Football’s most prestigious honor and is given to the division’s player of the year.
