NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
UMES takes title at 2008 NCAA Women’s Bowling Championships

G. STAN BRADLEY
OMAHA, Neb.— The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) won the 2008 NCAA Women’s National Championship on Saturday evening at Thunder Alley in Omaha, Nebraska. “I’m speechless,” said a grinning Coach Sharon Brummell. “After last year, I thought we could contend for the championship.” Contend they did, but there is a much larger story to tell. The Hawks went into the tournament ranked second in the country and were the runners-up to the National Championship in 2007. They started slow however and qualified seventh on the first day and had to fight their way to the title. Fight they did. UMES Photos

Black College Sports History: Bibbs garners 400th win-Lady Aggies open the MEAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed
It wasn't rocket science the vision  former N.C. A&T Dr. James C. Renick must of had when he introduce coach  Patricia Cage-Bibbs,  who had led Hampton University's Lady Pirates to three MEAC Championships, as the new women's basketball coach of the Lady Aggies, a program whose marquee player record holder in rebounds and scoring Malveata Johnson in her senior in interview said what she wanted was a winning season.  In  her 3rd year on the job at A&T coach Bibbs' Lady Aggies garner her 400 career win , were on a 15-win streak, and undefeated in conference play until Monday's 85 to 84 lost to Hampton on the road.
