(SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --)  Bethune-Cookman University and Elon University had to go to a scorecard playoff on Sunday to determine a winner.  Eventually, it was Elon taking the victory to allow the B-CU women's golf squad to capture second place in the annual Sea Trail Women's Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Plantation Golf Course in Sunset Beach, N.C.

B-CU transfer Emma Taylor fired a 218 (+2) for the three-day event as she swept away second place in her first-ever tournament in maroon and gold.  Taylor, a sure-handed golfer from Devon, England, has been highly-touted by the B-CU coaching staff for months since her decision to come to Daytona Beach.

Murray State's Andrea Downer was the top golfer for the tournament with a 215 (-1) as she collected rounds of 74, 71 and 70.  Taylor fired in scores of 72, 74 and 72.

Behind Taylor was teammate and freshman Kimberly Wong.  Wong, a very visibly-gifted golfer from Vermont's U-32 School in East Montpelier, has been another highly-raved about golfer as she adds to the already ample supply of talent assembled by head coach Dr. Gary Freeman.

Wong posted a round of 75 on each day to collect a total score of 225 (+9) in her first collegiate event.  That allowed her to finish in fifth place for the event.

Becky Dowell was tied for 14th as she finished in the Top 20, yet again, with a 231 (+15).  Fern Grimshaw (234), and sophomore Maria Urquiola (256) rounded-out the team scoring for the Wildcats.

B-CU sophomore Maria Garrido shot a 239 (+23) to finish tied for 34th as she competed as an individual player outside of team scoring for the 'Cats.

Elon's Frederique Bruell (222) and Xavier's Mary Beth McKenna (223) were also amongst the top five golfers over the weekend.

With B-CU taking second place with a score of 904, Xavier (907), Murray State (918) and James Madison (921) rounded-out the top five teams in the event.

The Wildcats will get back to the links next weekend when they travel to the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament in Estero, Fla.  The three-day event is set for Sept. 28-30 at the beautiful Meromon Lake Beach Golf Course.
