Rams Ninth at Third Annual Tiger Invitational
Fields leading Rams on day one of two day tournament

SAVANNAH, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams golf team got off to a solid start to the Third Annual Tiger Invitational hosted by Savannah State University. The Rams finished ninth on day one of the two-day event with a team total of 358 in the event.

Three Ram golfers scored in the 80s on day one’s 36 holes and gave the team a solid ninth place finish in the 12-team field. Sophomore Jerrell Fields led the way for the Rams shooting 85, two better than fellow sophomore Steven Mason’s 89 and four better than freshman Shelton Davis’ 89. Freshman Zachary Yelder had the next best finish for the Rams with a 97 on the day. Sophomore Stanley Johnson rounded out the WSSU effort shooting a day one 132 in the event.

The Rams will return to action tomorrow to complete the tournament.
