WSSU Golfers Close Independent
Collegiate Invitational In Eighth Place

HENDERSONVILLE, NC –
The Winston-Salem State University men’s
golf team turned in an impressive
showing at the Independent Collegiate
Golf Invitational at the Etowah Valley
Country Club on Tuesday afternoon as
they followed Joshua Vogler’s combined
score of 158 (83-75;158) to an eighth
place finish.
Vogler led the Rams in scoring for a
school-record 11th
consecutive match as he followed a
first-round 83 with a round of 75 on
Tuesday.
Vogler was joined by Jerell Fields who
turned in an aggregate two-day total of
169 (86-83; 169) and Steven Mason who
turned in a season-best total of 164
(86-78; 164).
The event marked the first match of the
season in which three WSSU golfers
turned in consecutive days of play with
rounds under 90. The Rams followed
these stellar rounds to an eighth place
finish.
WSSU returns to action for their final
action of the season on May 7-9, 2007
when they travel to Port St. Lucie,
Florida and the PGA Golf Club to compete
in the PGA Minority Golf Championships.
