ORANGEBURG, SC –
The Winston-Salem State University men’s
golf team closed out competition from
the 2007 South Carolina State University
Bulldog Golf Classic with a final-round
362 as the Rams recorded a two-day
aggregate team total of 736 to earn an
eighth place finish overall.
The Rams, who sat in eighth place after
first-round action were paced by Joshua
Vogler who turned in two rounds in the
70’s as he followed up his first-round
77 with a final-round 75 en route to an
eighth-place overall finish. The top-10
medalist finish is Vogler’s fifth top-10
finish of the season.
Vogler was joined by Jerell Fields who
fired a first-round 87 and a final round
86 en route to an individual aggregate
total of 173 as he finished tied for 31st
overall.
Florida A&M University captured both the
team championship and individual
medalist honors as the Rattlers turned
in a two-day aggregate total of 597, or
21 over par to capture the team title.
FAMU’s James Petty captured the
individual medalist honors as he
defeated his teammate Jason Still and
South Carolina State’s Robert A. Biggers
in a two-hole playoff after each
finished with two-round totals of 143.
The Rams will return to action on
Sunday, April 8, 2007 as they travel to
compete in the Brevard College Golf
Invitational at Etowah Valley Country
Club in Brevard, North Carolina.
