SWAC Men’s Golf Championship:  Day Two
Jackson State continues lead
 

Jackson State continues to hold the lead after two rounds of competition at the 2007 SWAC Men’s Golf Championship.  Texas Southern is eight strokes back while Alabama State is in third place.  Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Southern are currently fourth and fifth, respectively.

Jackson State’s Raul Cortes continues to lead the individual scoring with a two-day total of 155.  Reggie Newton (Jackson State) is second with a 156 while Devin Crenshaw (Alabama State) and Ben Sanders (Arkansas-Pine Bluff are tied for third with 157. 

SWAC Women’s Golf Championship:  Day Two
Jackson State repeat as champions

The Lady Tigers of Jackson State defended their title to capture the 2007 SWAC Women’s Golf Tournament.  The Lady Tigers won the event by more than 40 strokes over second-place Texas Southern.  Alcorn State finished third while Prairie View A&M and Alabama State round out the top five.

Shasta Averyhardt of Jackson State was the top individual scorer with a score of 152.  Tied for second with a mark of 156 were Texas Southern’s Georgette Rolle and Merielle LeBlanc.  First-day leader Ida Lamela of Alcorn State was fourth with a score of 157 while Jackson State’s Nikeya Peay was fifth with a 159.
